cPanel FTP Accounts
FTP is an acronym for ‘file transfer protocol’. FTP allows us to transfer files from one computer or server to your web hosting account. You have to create accounts with passwords specifically for use with FTP.
You create the logon accounts in cPanel then use the separate client program to do the work. A few of these programs include: Filezilla and CoreFTP for Windows and Cyberduck for Mac computers.
When you create a user account you need to specify the directory in the file system where the user will have there highest level of access. You also provide a limit on how much data they can transfer.
cPanel usually provides a few special accounts that are configured for specific access to different parts of the file system for your account. The only change that can be made on these accounts is the data quota allowed. They also can’t be deleted.
